Black pride Festival is an annual cultural event designed to reinstate the spirit of cultural tolerance and coexistence among tribes and cultures in Africa. to celebrate the purpose of Africa’s multiculturalism, history, philosophy, Creativity, Ethics, Ideologies, Fashion Sense and Numerous attributes embedded in different cultures across Africa.

The 7th edition of the festival will take place on Thursday 10th November 2022, at the LASRAB HOUSE, PSSDC Road, off Supreme Foundation School, Magodo GRA. Lagos.

Since the maiden edition held at the Department of the Creative Arts University of Lagos was well attended by members of the university community and endorsed by relevant Arts Organisations, has since witnessed participation from Public/Private Schools within and outside Lagos state, Neighboring African communities.

The Event Curator and Executive Director Ajide Olamilekan Adeyemi, a renowned Theatre Practitioner, in a press statement said “it is evident that cultural values are beginning to loose it’s essence both on ethics, morals, manners and fashion sense due to the wrong embrace of modernization or social transformation in our society”.

“Hence the festival is aimed at reawakening creative and cultural consciousness of participants, which will help to restore the true African spirit for socio-cultural and national development”.

“The Festival over the years has helped to remind Africans, particularly young participants on the need to embrace their true sense of cultural identity”.

“A group of people without a true sense of their cultural identity are like a tree without Roots”…

He also reiterated the need for Africans both at home and abroad to continue to be great champions, peace-loving people, and a great ambassadors of the African continent as we continue to project our local values for global standards. Oruko Re’re San ju wura ati fadaka lo.

The topic for discussion, is Cultural Relativism for Nations Building, while the Guest Speaker is the Secretary-General, the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) Mr Makinde Adeniran,

Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau, LASRAB, is an agency of the Government established by law 22 of 2007 to regulate preserve and disseminate accurate records of enduring value in a professional manner using best practices in information and knowledge management.

As part of its statutory responsibility, it is saddled with the mandate to promote history culture and tradition for our heritage patrimony.

DG LASRAB, Mrs. Billikiss Adebiyi- Abiola is one of the special guest and would be honored with the Award of Excellence as Black Pride Personality 2022..

Other Awardees are HRM. Oba Omogbolahan Akanbi Timson, Jagunmola of Shomolu/ Bariga, Dr. Comfort Otegbeye. Dr. Tunji Sotimirin. Mr Makinde Adeniran Fta. and all Participating Schools.
