The Federal Government has said its implementation of the 11-pillar programmes in the 10-year North-East Stabilisation and Development Master Plan (NESDMP) will cost about $80 billion (N31.05 trillion).
The government assured all stakeholders that the money would not hinder its resolve and commitment to restore peace, stability and prosperity to the region.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, announced this at a validation meeting of the NESDMP yesterday in Abuja.
The event was also attended by Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, his Gombe State counterpart, Inuwa Yahaya as well as representatives of the governors of Bauchi, Adamawa, Yobe and Taraba states.
The SGF said President Muhammadu Buhari was unwavering in his resolve to change the narrative in the Northeast in order to address the devastation the region has suffered in the hands of insurgents.
He said: “While congratulating the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, and the board and management of NEDC for producing the NESDMP, I urge you to commence the implementation of the Master Plan soon, after its approval, with due diligence, dedication, and dexterity through the deployment of all appropriate monitoring, evaluation and coordination competencies tools.”
