Lagos General Hospital performs life-saving surgery on patient with severe liver injury
In a remarkable display of medical expertise and teamwork, the medical and management team at Orile-Agege General Hospital, Lagos, successfully performed a complex life-saving surgery on a patient with a severe liver injury. The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Kemi Ogunyemi, formally received and commended the hospital’s medical team on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

Businessman, Igbokwe undergoes surgery to remove 81 wraps of cocaine lodged in his stomach
A 59-year-old businessman, Chijioke Nnanna Igbokwe, underwent surgery, exploratory laparotomy, to remove 57 out of 81 pellets of cocaine lodged in his stomach after ingesting the illicit substance in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Igbokwe was apprehended by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, during inward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airlines flight on Sunday, 26th January 2025.

LASUTH performs first LASER treatment for Kidney Stones
The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has again led public health institutions as it successfully performed its first LASER Lithotripsy today, 28th of October, 2021. LASUTH, being the only State tertiary institution now has a full upper tract endoscopic and LASER facility which can be accessible by the residents of Lagos states and its environs.
