The Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), on Saturday hosted over 300 executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja Constituency II to a one-day strategic grassroots summit aimed at strengthening party cohesion, deepening mobilisation and enhancing organisational effectiveness.

The summit, held on January 10, 2026, brought together party leaders and executives from the 10 wards that make up Ikeja Constituency II across Ikeja Local Government and Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA). With 27 executive members per ward and council, the large turnout underscored the strategic importance of grassroots engagement within the constituency.

The engagement commenced with a session in Ojodu LCDA at the newly acquired Ojodu APC Secretariat, where party leaders, ward executives and councillors deliberated on strategies to strengthen party structures at the grassroots. In attendance were the APC Chairman in Ojodu LCDA, Alhaja Stella Olusola Kokumo; her assistant, Comrade Gbemi Ololade; members of the LCDA executive committee; ward chairmen and ward executives. Councillors representing Ojodu wards B, C, D, E and F were also present.

During the Ojodu session, Hon. Kasunmu commended a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in Ikeja Constituency II, Cardinal James Odunmbaku (Baba Eto), for his consistent leadership and contributions to party stability and growth. He also lauded Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke for donating the building now serving as the Ojodu APC Secretariat, describing the gesture as a landmark contribution to party development and grassroots organisation.

Addressing participants, the Deputy Majority Leader clarified that the summit was neither election-driven nor tied to personal political ambition, but a deliberate effort to galvanise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. He described Ikeja as the political home base of the President and stressed the collective responsibility of party leaders to strengthen structures within the constituency.

The summit later moved to the Ikeja centre, held at the Marriage Registry Hall, where another session featured party executives and government officials, including the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Akeem Olamilekan Dauda; the APC Chairman in Ikeja LGA, Alhaji Adekunle Dally-Adeokun; and other members of the local government executive committee. Councillors representing Ikeja wards A, B, D and E were also in attendance.

Both Hon. Dauda and Alhaji Dally-Adeokun commended Hon. Kasunmu for convening the summit, describing it as timely, unifying and morale-boosting, particularly at the beginning of the year. The APC State Assistant Legal Adviser, Barrister Adebola Ladigbolu, also attended the event, lending support from the state party leadership.

In his address at both sessions, Hon. Kasunmu applauded party leaders and executives for their efforts in mobilising members for the ongoing APC membership e-registration exercise, describing it as critical to modernising party records and strengthening internal organisation. He urged intensified mobilisation to ensure wider participation across all wards.

To support the success of the exercise, the lawmaker announced the donation of four tablet devices and two printers, alongside a cash contribution of ₦2.5 million, to facilitate effective e-registration across Ikeja Constituency II.

The summit also featured welfare support, including food refreshments and cash assistance for party executives, further reflecting the lawmaker’s inclusive and people-centred leadership approach.

The event reaffirmed Hon. Kasunmu’s commitment to grassroots engagement, party unity and capacity building, while reinforcing Ikeja Constituency II as a strong support base for the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He pledged to make the summit a regular feature of his engagement with party stakeholders in the constituency.
