
The funeral event for the late Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), the Yeye-Sewa of Lagos, Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson started on Tuesday, with a Special Joint Valedictory Session by the three Legislative Councils within the Ikeja Federal Constituency, namely Ikeja Local Government Council, Ojodu and Onigbongbo Local Council Development Areas Legislative Councils at the Ikeja Local Government Council Main-Auditorium.


The remains of late politician and socialite, Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson, was on Thursday, August 25, committed to mother earth in Lagos.
The 66 years old socialite whose death on Sunday, July 17, sent shock waves across Lagos political and social establishment, had been unwell for a while.
At some point, she seemed to get better and even held a special thanksgiving service on May 8, to thank God for seeing her through the battle.




But death was lurking, as two months after, she was struck by a strange attack which she never recovered from.

An evening of songs and tributes was held in her honour at the Haven, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, August 23.
Similarly, a Christian wake took place August 24, at the same venue before she is finally laid to rest on the 25th.

Her farewell service was at Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church, Ikeja GRA, while reception took place at Harbour Point.
The late Yeye-Sewa of Lagos, was the only female member of the Governing Advisory Council of Lagos APC.


Prominent individuals who showed up for her outing service were Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu counterpart from Ogun and Pleatue States, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Governor Simon Lalong respectively, former first lady of Lagos State, Oluremi Tinubu, Secretary of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Member House of Representatives for Ikeja Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon James Abiodun Faleke, National Secretary of All Progressives Congress party, Iyiola Omisore, former Vice-Chairman APC Lagos West, Chief Funso Ologunde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, socialite, Joke Sogunro, former Lagos Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu and a host of others.



Chief Nelson was the Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Job Creation, Women Affairs, and Poverty Alleviation under the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration 1999-2003.

Nelson was a former executive director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, a position she held until May 2021
