The Federal High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Friday ruled that former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is qualified to vie for the 2023 presidency.

Justice Isa Hamma Dashen delivered the judgement on Friday.

The judge added that Jonathan had the right to vie for the presidency anytime he chose to and that no law could bar him from that.

There have been debate over Jonathan’s eligibility to contest the presidency in 2023 with lawyers having divergent views.

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana had contended that Jonathan is not qualified to vie for the 2023 presidency as the amended 1999 constitution barred him.

Another lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba faulted Falana, saying that Jonathan is eminently qualified to vie for the 2023 presidency.

Jonathan has also purchased APC’s n100 million presidential form but claimed it was purchased for him and rejected the move.

But his body language showed that he is interested in vying for the 2023 presidency.
