On the 17th of January 2022, 249 new confirmed cases and 7 deaths were recorded in Nigeria

Till date, 251,178 cases have been confirmed, 224,629 cases have been discharged and 3110 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

The 249 new cases are reported from 15 States – Lagos (59), Adamawa (46), Imo (37), FCT (30), Kwara (14), Rivers (13), Kaduna (10), Taraba (9), Cross River (8), Bauchi (7), Niger (5), Delta (4), Ogun (4), Nasarawa (2) and Kano (1)

A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities

The Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) has convened at the Inspector-General of Police Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, to review disciplinary cases instituted against senior police officers of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above in order to determine their culpability or otherwise. The FDC which comprises the seven (7) Deputy Inspectors-General of Police as arbiters and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Force Secretary as its secretary, began its session on Tuesday 28th June, 2022 and will hold till Friday, 1st July, 2022.
