Occupants survive as commercial bus plunges into Lagos canal

Tragedy was averted yesterday in Lagos when a chartered commercial bus loaded with passengers plunged into a canal in the Oworonshoki area of the state.

Tragedy was averted on Monday in Lagos when a chartered commercial bus loaded with passengers plunged into a canal in the Oworonshoki area of the state.
 
The bus marked LSD184XV was said to be conveying passengers to the coronation ceremony of the newly elected Olowora of Oworo, Oba Nurudeen Olamilekan Saliu Oloworo 2, when the bus suffered brake failure few metres to the venue and flew into the canal.

Sources said it was a miracle that all the occupants escaped unhurt.

When newsmen visited the scene, bags and other personal belongings of the occupants were abandoned in the bus with no passenger in sight.

Commercial motorcyclists also known as Okada riders in the area said all the passengers were rescued with minor injuries by residents in the area and are currently at the event.
