The Executive Chairman, Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Hon. Rasaq Olùṣọlà Àjàlá, has made a mark again in his administration of the LCDA. He is always at the vanguard of charting a new course for the development of the youths.

The LCDA is organising a sports fiesta that will run across the whole of the 9 Wards in the Council Area for 16 days. According to Hon. Àjàlá during a Press Conference to herald the birth of the Sport Fiesta, he said: “Our activities will kick off with the Street walk tagged “Walking For the Community that Works For Us” on Saturday (tomorrow) morning with the young and old walking from the council premises, through Ilupeju bypass to Agege Motor Road and end at Anikulapo area office in Jibowu.”

The idea, he stated further, is “to take the youth off the Streets as we intend to correct the impression that success is only achieved within the four walls of the classroom or through formal education.”

While this would help in combating obesity within the LCDA, it will also promote advocacy and campaign for physical activities to forestall the growth of obesity in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA. Chairman Àjàlá further stated “that events such as this would unveil hidden talents in sporting activities who may make us proud by representing our LCDA, our dear state and country in the global competition in the future.”

He identified ambassadors of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA who have done the LCDA proud through sporting activities. Particularly, he mentioned “Taiwo Agbaje (Esepo), who is a “Mushiner”, born and bred in our LCDA, recently made us proud in far away Europe in a boxing competition where he won a medal for himself.”

Hopefully, Chairman Àjàlá “believe that several young ones can still do well for themselves if given the opportunity” through sporting activities.

He also stated that this “event over the next few days will inspire a new generation to strive for greatness -and will open the eyes of several to new possibilities.”

For him, “This is the essence of our aim to stage this competition, tagged Odiolowo Sport Fiesta.”

In catching the youths young, Hon. Àjàlá “believe that we can harness the power of sports to build character and provide a truly holistic education among our youth.” Thereby, changing the narratives of negatives about Mushin in general.
