The Lagos State Education District II has emphasised the importance of knowledge sharing, especially among Subject Teachers across public schools, for the benefit of students and to uniformly address some identified gaps among learners.
Addressing all the 19 Subjects Associations that participated in an exhibition organised to celebrate this year’s Subjects Association Exhibition Day, held at Government Model College, Ikorodu, the Tutor-General /Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, highlighted the importance and significance of the Subject Association in Lagos State.

She said that the Subjects Association enables teachers, who teach the same subjects, to share ideas on how to teach the students and also examine different methodologies of teaching in consonance with present-day realities.
According to Mrs. Adekanye, the conversation around the Subjects Teachers Day revolves around how teachers in Lagos State can better the lot of every student in their care through their teachings, both within and outside classrooms.
She emphasised the need for every teacher to belong to a Subject Association, while they seek better and more creative ways to engage their students in an atmosphere that makes learning conducive and enjoyable.
The Tutor-General /Permanent Secretary, also revealed that the just concluded Subject Association Exhibition by teachers in the District, is the first of its kind, just as she expressed her appreciation to all the Subject Associations that came to showcase their Subjects.
Also speaking at the event, the Director, Curriculum Department of Education District ll, Mrs. Adebimpe Otunaike, who initiated the Subjects Associations’ Exhibition, expressed her appreciation to all the teachers present at the event and urged them to always see the teaching profession as an opportunity to impact lives.
Some of the associations that participated in the Exhibition include The Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), Agricultural Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, Humanity and Health Teachers Association of Nigeria, Association of Commercial Subjects Teachers of Nigeria, Visual Arts Teachers Association of Nigeria, Physics Teachers Association of Nigeria, and Egbe Akomolede Yoruba amongst others
All the 19 Subject Associations that participated in the Exhibition staged a march past to showcase their various subjects while also presenting gifts associated with their subjects to the Tutor-General /Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Anike Adekanye.
