The Lagos State Civil Service Pensions Office, in collaboration with MOC Consulting Limited, recently held a pre-retirement workshop, tagged “Entrepreneurial Life After Retirement”, for civil servants about to exit the service at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Ind,ustry (LCCI), Ikeja.

In her address at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, reiterated that retirement is an event that happens to every officer that God blesses with long life, hence there is a need for everyone to prepare for life after retirement even before the moment comes.

She stated that the primary objective of the three-day retirement training, organised by the Civil Service Pensions Office, in conjunction with MOC Consulting Limited, was to empower the participants with business ideas, investment opportunities and healthy living tips amongst others during their retirement.

While noting that it is imperative to prepare the soon-to-be-retired officers for full disengagement from paid employment, the Commissioner said the training is an eloquent testimony to the policy of inclusion and great love that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration has for workers, especially the retirees.

Ponnle, however, encouraged participants to fully participate in all sessions and avail themselves of the inherent opportunities, saying “This workshop was designed to empower and equip them for the next phase in their lives.

In his remarks at the event, Managing Partner, MOC Consult and former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Asiwaju (Dr.) Michael Olawale Cole, commended the State Government on the improvement of employees’ social and economic wellbeing.

Dr. Cole also praised the present administration for being pension compliant and ahead of others in relation to the welfare of retired and active civil servants.
