Schools in Lagos State have been urged to remain vigilant in the wake of what appears to be the start of a potential third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State, just as all heads and tutors in public and private schools are required to ensure the safety of pupils, students, and staff.

The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, who made the appeal on Tuesday while reacting to inquiries on the plans of the State Government to ensure schools remain safe, added that all preventive measures against the spread of COVID-19 or its variants are still being taken across public schools in Lagos State, while private school owners have been constantly kept on alert.

She implored parents to assist the school authorities with prompt reports of children, who exhibit symptoms of the dreaded disease, to ensure the escalation of early signals to health service providers and tracking of all direct and indirect contacts beyond the school system.

Adefisayo also directed all schools in the State to strictly ensure that all regulations are religiously followed and that school personnel should be firm in implementing measures put in place for school safety.

In addition, the Commissioner restated the resolve of the State Government not to leave any stone unturned in the bid to effectively mitigate the third wave of the pandemic in Lagos State.
