Engineers tour Dangote Refinery

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Lagos, led by its chairman, Engr. Ayotunde Ogunnoiki, on Thursday, paid a technical visit to Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, Lekki Free Trade Zone, Ibeju-Lekki.

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Lagos, led by its chairman, Engr. Ayotunde Ogunnoiki, on Thursday, paid a technical visit to Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, Lekki Free Trade Zone, Ibeju-Lekki.

The delegation was received by the Assistant General Manager, Training, Development aand Stakeholder Relationship Management, Dr. Ebele Oputa, at her office, who took them on a tour of the facility.

Oputa said the company’s foray into the area has improved the lives of people in their host community. She said, “About two kilometres to our premises, you must have seen a lot of businesses sprung up; people are getting employed. You could then imagine what would happen by the time we fully come into operation.”

Speaking after the facility tour, Engr. Ogunnoiki acknowledged the magnitude of work being done, stressing that the $15bn facility is the biggest ongoing engineering project in the country with 60 million cubic meter of sand filling, 140,000 piles, stone columns, 400MW power plant.

He said he believes strongly that by the time the facility begins full operation, Nigerians will be rid of high cost of petroleum products
