Coronavirus: Lagos Launches Registration Portal For Religious Centres, Social Outlets, Others

Further to the gradual opening of businesses and public places in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Lagos State Government through the State Safety Commission has launched portal for registration of religious centres, social clubs, event centres, restaurants, bars, night clubs, spas, cinemas and gyms.

The government said all is set to commence the registration of the affected entities in furtherance of a directive by the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

It will be recalled that the State Government, in considering full re-opening of the critical sectors of its economy, had revealed that the move will not be pushed in a hurry.

Sanwo-Olu had said that in the coming days, the State Government would be rolling out Register-to-Open initiative as part of the plans that would enable it assess the level of readiness of the players in the identified sectors for supervised operations.

The Governor said this at a briefing after the State’s Security Council meeting held at the State House in Marina.

Specifically, Sanwo-Olu had said that officials from the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC) and Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) will be visiting restaurants, companies, religious houses to assess their level of readiness.

With the size of the State’s economy and numbers of businesses that operate in its domain, the Governor said the Government could not afford to keep people and businesses on lockdown permanently.

As a prompt execution of the orders of the State government, the commission said that all is now set for designated businesses, Religious and Social centers (Social Clubs, Event Centres, Restaurants, Bars, Night Clubs, Spas, Cinemas and Gyms) to begin registration
