Social Media Week: I Failed JAMB 5 Times- Laura Ikeji

 

This year’s edition of Social Media Week commenced on Monday the 26 of February and will be ending on Friday March 1st. The event which is currently ongoing at the Landmark event centre is a conference that provides insights and inspiration to help people and businesses understand how to achieve more in a hyper-connected world.

In one of the programs which held today at Oriental Hotel with the theme: ”Building Your Digital Empire” celebrities and panelist who were present included Laura Ikeji, Ubi Franklin, Sound Sultan and Abiola Fabio.

Laura Ikeji while addressing the audience said failing is a good thing as she failed JAMB and WAEC 5 times each. The fashion entrepreneur and mother of one also encouraged youths to be all about success and grooming a business until it starts to yield returns for them.

The brand influencer who recently authored a book titled ”How To Make Money On Instagram” further said to start a business, one does not need money, as she did not start her business with capital but rather by posting pictures on Instagram daily with an aim to grow her brand until it started to pay off.

Triple MG boss Ubi Franklin on the other hand mentioned the importance of finding one’s passion and growing it as a brand or business from the scratch instead of trying to scale hurdles and looking for immediate success.

Sound Sultan however emphasised the importance of putting up good content, being up to date on trending societal issues as well as using social media as a tool for startups who want to become big brands. He also said youths should find a problem in whatever endeavour they choose and provide a solution to it.

In conclusion Abiola Fabio CEO OF ERDTERS urged young people to monetize their passion by using strategies that have been tested and proven to work, while using social media to sell to their business communities.
