Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice

The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN on Tuesday freed one Israel Adejol, 27, who was charged for videotaping a traffic warden while on duty contrary to Section 57(1) (c) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Adejol, 27, was apprehended and arraigned by the Police on a one-count charge for recording a traffic warden on duty in January 2020 at Orile-Iganmu, Lagos.

The Attorney-General said the charge against Adejo was contrary to the provisions of Law and an abuse of delegated power of prosecution.

The notice of discontinuance of the charge was filed on the 11th day of February 2020 before Magistrate T. Agbona sitting at Ebute-Meta and the court upon the moving of the motion released Adejol.

Onigbanjo added that his decision to exercise prosecutorial powers is discretional on matters considered to be in the interest of the public, saying the power to prosecute criminal offences should be exercised with utmost caution after due consideration of facts.

The Attorney-General assured members of the public that the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration will ensure that Justice is dispensed fairly to every resident of the State.
