











The Southwest Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and socialite Chief Mrs Olukemi Nelson celebrated her 64th birthday in quietude atmosphere with family, friends, political associates and followers.
The Yeye-Sewa of Lagos who posted on her Facebook timeline on the early hour of Sunday after rendering songs of praise also expressed appreciation to God “THANK you my DADI for the grace and gift of another 365 days in the land of the living. I will praise you from everlasting to everlasting because you KNOW ME”.
She held a thanksgiving service at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos with arrays of politicians coming out to praise the Lord with her.
The home reception was another prayer section and sermon delivered by Prophet Olatunji Alabi of the Evangelical Apostolic Church at the Nelson’s off Allen home.
Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson was born February 9, 1956 to the illustrious Tinubu-Meredith/Laja families, she had her primary school at Anglican Girls Primary School Surulere, and Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ijebu Ode.
She taught briefly at Corona School Apapa before enrolling for Nursing and Midwifery courses at the University College Hospital Ibadan.
The gregarious Women Leader is married to Mr. Adeyemi Nelson, a retired director of Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs. Their love affair started during their secondary school days when she was just in form two at Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode and Adeyemi was in form four at Birch Freeman High School, Surulere-Lagos. They got married in 1987 and had three children and they are already parents themselves.
She also attended Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, where she had a diploma in law and Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Nelson began her political career during the President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) led military regime in the late 1980s when she joined the National Republican Convention (NRC), one of the two parties founded and funded by IBB Military regime.
At the time, there were not too many female politicians in politics. She became exposed to party politics as she was saddled with big assignments including the chairmanship of NRC’s electoral committee for the party’s presidential primaries in Osun State.
She was NRC senatorial candidate for Lagos West Senatorial district in 1992 and was defeated by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in that year’s National Assembly election.
At different times, Nelson was Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Job Creation, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, during the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as governor of Lagos State 1999-2003.
The well attended 64th birthday event have in attendance dignitaries amongst whom were the Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa, Commissioners for Commerce, Trade & Industries Dr Mrs ‘Lola Akande and her Local Government & Community Affairs counterpart Dr Wale Ahmed. Also in attendance were the Ikeja Constituency 1 & 2 representatives in the Lagos State House of Assembly Hon Folajimi Lai-Mohammed and Hon Adedamola Richard Kasunmu respectively.




Others were Chief Funso Ologunde the Vice-Chairman APC Lagos West, the Executive Chairman Ikeja Local Government Dr Mojeed Balogun, the APC Chairman Ikeja Chapter Alhaji Dally Adeokun, former Executive Chairman Ikeja Local Government Mayor Alani Okikioposu, Dr. Ken Mordi, Mrs Modupe Olaiya, Engr Kehinde Akinola and the Vice Chairman APC Ikeja Prince Oluranti Olufon who was part of the entourage of the Chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light Church Very Rev. Ayo Oyadotun who also shared some word of God at the Prayer and worship to celebrate the 64th birthday celebration of Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson.
Among guests were also juju musician Dare Melody, Secretary to the Ikeja Local Government Hon Akeem Dauda, Leader Ikeja Legislative Council Hon Adetoro Adebowale led the team of Councillors, Supervisory Councillors and other array of politicians and other well-wishers.
