The Lagos APC PBAT-KOH Campaign Council has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the revered Yoruba elder statesman, nationalist, educationist and former leader of Afenifere, describing his death as a significant loss to the Yoruba nation and Nigeria.

In a condolence statement issued on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, and signed by Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, Director of Information, Communication and Branding, for the Council, the Director-General, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, paid tribute to the late statesman’s remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s political development and democratic struggles.

The Council described Pa Fasoranti as a man whose life was defined by service, courage, integrity and an unwavering commitment to national progress, noting that his passing marked the end of an extraordinary chapter in Yoruba socio-political history.

It stated that the late elder statesman belonged to a distinguished generation of nationalists whose convictions were rooted in principle and whose commitment to justice, democracy and good governance transcended partisan interests.

As a respected leader of Afenifere, Pa Fasoranti played a significant role in advancing progressive politics in Nigeria. His association with the ideals of Chief Obafemi Awolowo reflected his enduring commitment to progressive governance, educational advancement, social welfare and the empowerment of ordinary citizens.

According to the Council, his contributions extended beyond political advocacy, as he served as a moral voice in public life, consistently emphasising the importance of responsible leadership, public accountability and the prioritisation of national interest over personal ambition.

The Council further noted that Pa Fasoranti witnessed defining moments in Nigeria’s political evolution, including the struggle for democratic restoration and the continuing quest for a nation founded on justice, equity and equal opportunities for all.

It added that, through changing political circumstances, he remained a symbol of conviction and steadfastness, earning the respect of admirers and political associates across ideological divides.

The statement described his death as a profound loss at a time when Nigeria needs the wisdom of its elders, principled leadership and a renewed commitment to national unity.

It stressed that although individuals eventually leave the public stage, the values they uphold and the institutions they help shape must endure beyond their lifetime.

The Lagos APC PBAT-KOH Campaign Council extended its heartfelt condolences to the Fasoranti family, the leadership and members of Afenifere, the government and people of Ondo State, the Yoruba nation and all Nigerians mourning the eminent patriot.

The Council also prayed that Almighty God would grant the bereaved family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss, while providing comfort to all those affected by his passing.

It concluded that Pa Fasoranti’s contributions to Nigeria’s political evolution and his steadfast belief in progressive governance would remain an enduring part of the nation’s history.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement added.
