The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of revered elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, who passed away at the age of 100.

Ojelabi described the death of the nonagenarian-turned-centenarian as a monumental loss to Yorubaland, the progressive political family and Nigeria, noting that his life was marked by integrity, discipline, selfless service and an unwavering commitment to good governance.

He said Pa Fasoranti belonged to a distinguished generation of leaders whose convictions, sacrifices and dedication to democratic ideals helped shape Nigeria’s political development and progressive tradition.

According to the Lagos APC Chairman, the late Afenifere leader was a respected voice of wisdom and conscience whose commitment to justice, social development and the welfare of the Yoruba people earned him widespread admiration across political and ideological divides.

“Pa Reuben Fasoranti was more than a political leader; he was a father figure, a repository of wisdom and a symbol of principled leadership. His life of service, commitment to democratic values and contributions to the development of Yorubaland and Nigeria will remain a source of inspiration to generations to come,” Ojelabi said.

He noted that Pa Fasoranti’s contributions to society extended beyond partisan politics, highlighting his distinguished career as an educationist, his service as a former Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State and his leadership of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation.

Ojelabi added that the elder statesman’s passing marked the loss of one of the enduring links to a generation that championed progressive ideals, democratic governance and social justice in Nigeria.

The Lagos APC Chairman extended his heartfelt condolences to the Fasoranti family, the Afenifere family, the government and people of Ondo State, the people of Akure Kingdom and the entire Yoruba nation.

He prayed that Almighty God would grant the bereaved family and all those affected by the loss the strength to bear the irreparable pain, while preserving the enduring legacy of honour, service and integrity left behind by the departed statesman.

“Though Baba has departed at the remarkable age of 100, his legacy will continue to speak for him. May God grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all those mourning this great loss,” he said.
