Ogun PDP governorship candidate alleges political pressure, insists his nomination and party membership are valid

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has broken his silence over the omission of his name from INEC’s published list of candidates for the February 6, 2027 governorship election, declaring that he will not abandon his quest to lead the state.

In a statement to the people of Ogun State, Adebutu insisted that his PDP membership remained valid, explaining that he completed his digital registration within the stipulated period, obtained a printed and verified membership card, and submitted the required documents to INEC on time.

He also maintained that the PDP primary that produced him as its governorship candidate was conducted with INEC officials present as observers and that the relevant documents were made available for verification and certification.

Adebutu questioned the circumstances surrounding the omission, alleging that the Ogun PDP had expressed concerns about pressure purportedly mounted by the ruling APC on the electoral commission.

He noted that other PDP candidates contesting legislative seats at the state and federal levels appeared on INEC’s published lists, describing the situation as one that required urgent attention.

The PDP candidate said the party would take the necessary steps through the appropriate channels to challenge the development and seek a resolution in accordance with due process.

Adebutu further alleged that the party had faced several obstacles in its political activities, including restrictions on campaign billboards, attacks at campaign grounds and harassment of members.

Despite these challenges, he declared that neither intimidation nor political distractions would deter the party from participating in the democratic process.

He called on PDP members, supporters and the people of Ogun State to remain calm and resolute, expressing confidence that the issue would be resolved.

Describing his political mission as a collective struggle rather than a personal ambition, Adebutu said the ultimate objective was to secure people-oriented leadership and improve the welfare of Ogun residents.

He reaffirmed his campaign message, “OGUN FOR OGUN,” stressing that the slogan represents his commitment to leadership that prioritises the interests, dignity and future of the people.

Adebutu ended his statement with a defiant message to supporters: “We remain focused. We remain resolute. The journey to a better Ogun continues.”

He also reiterated his campaign declaration: “RELIEF IS HERE! ITURA DE!”
