2027: APC Women Mobilisation Summit Targets 40m Votes for Tinubu-Shettima
ABUJA — The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council’s Women Mobilisation Directorate is set to hold a national stakeholders’ summit in Abuja on Monday, October 5, 2026, as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential election.
The summit, convened by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to attract women leaders and stakeholders from across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
Ahead of the event, the Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, said the directorate was targeting 40 million votes from women for President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 election.
Edu, who spoke with journalists on Saturday, described the summit as a strategic platform for consolidating the party’s women mobilisation structure and strengthening its grassroots network ahead of the election.
She commended the First Lady for convening the summit, saying it would provide an opportunity for women stakeholders to deliberate on mobilisation strategies while also supporting the empowerment of hundreds of women.
“When we put our strength together and unite behind our President and his wife, victory is certain,” Edu said.
She also acknowledged the support of state governors and their wives in facilitating the participation of women stakeholders, disclosing that a significant number of delegates had already arrived in Abuja ahead of the summit.
According to her, however, the national summit represents only one component of the directorate’s broader mobilisation programme, with grassroots engagements continuing simultaneously across the country.
“Most of the delegates from the states have already arrived in Abuja, and more are expected. But our community engagements and door-to-door mobilisation have continued across the country,” she said.
Edu said the women mobilisation strategy was anchored on sustained engagement with women and households at the community level, with the structure extending across 176,846 communities nationwide.
She described the campaign as a “100-day sprint”, stressing that the directorate would maintain its grassroots mobilisation activities throughout the period.
“It is a 100-day sprint, and we will not relent until victory is achieved for President Tinubu. Our strength is in our numbers,” she said.
