Onigbongbo LCDA Celebrates World Tourism Day, Highlights Tourism as Driver of Economic Growth
The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, has called for greater investment in tourism, culture, creativity and local enterprises as key drivers of economic growth, job creation and community development.
Adebanjo made the call in a message commemorating World Tourism Day 2026, stressing that tourism goes beyond visiting places, but serves as a powerful platform for entrepreneurship, employment generation and grassroots transformation.
According to him, the rich cultural heritage, creativity, talents and local enterprises within communities present enormous opportunities that can be harnessed to stimulate economic activities, empower young people, create jobs and attract investment.
The Onigbongbo LCDA Chairman noted that sustainable grassroots development must include creating an enabling environment for local talents, artisans, entrepreneurs and businesses to thrive.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives capable of unlocking economic opportunities and improving the livelihoods of residents, while promoting the cultural and tourism potential of the community.
“Tourism is an investment in our people, our heritage and our future,” Adebanjo said, urging residents and stakeholders to collectively discover, preserve, promote and invest in the valuable tourism and cultural assets within their communities.
He subsequently wished residents and tourism stakeholders a Happy World Tourism Day 2026, while encouraging greater collaboration towards making tourism an important contributor to local economic development.
