The Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Olusegun David Odunmbaku, has called for greater efforts to preserve the area’s cultural heritage while leveraging tourism to create employment opportunities and stimulate local economic growth.
Odunmbaku made the call in his message commemorating World Tourism Day, as he felicitated with residents of Ojodu LCDA and stakeholders across the tourism, hospitality, cultural and creative industries.
According to the Ojodu council chairman, tourism goes beyond travelling, describing it as an important avenue for preserving cultural heritage, promoting communities, creating jobs and strengthening local economies.
He noted that Ojodu’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant communities, traditional institutions, hospitality, creativity and diverse social life constitute valuable assets capable of attracting visitors, investment and patronage while creating opportunities for residents.
Odunmbaku reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives, programmes and events that promote Ojodu’s cultural identity, encourage tourism development and foster stronger collaboration among stakeholders in the sector.
He further stressed the importance of digitisation and artificial intelligence in showcasing Ojodu’s heritage, attractions and opportunities to a wider global audience.
The chairman urged residents and stakeholders to work together to preserve the community’s heritage and promote Ojodu as a destination with the potential to generate shared prosperity.
“Let us continue to preserve our heritage, showcase Ojodu LCDA to the world by leveraging digitisation with artificial intelligence, and build a tourism sector that creates opportunities and shared prosperity,” he said.
He wished residents and tourism stakeholders a Happy World Tourism Day.
