APC Reconciles, Rejuvenates Tinubu’s Political Base in Lagos Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its reconciliation and grassroots rejuvenation efforts aimed at strengthening the political base of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The renewed strategy, anchored on reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation and organisational restructuring, took centre stage at a special stakeholders’ meeting held at the APC Lagos State Party Secretariat in Acme, Ogba, Lagos.
The meeting brought together party leaders, stakeholders and aggrieved aspirants to address internal disagreements, rebuild trust and foster greater unity within the party. Participants stressed the need to set aside personal and past political differences in the interest of the APC’s collective growth and electoral success.
The initiative is particularly significant in Lagos, the political stronghold from which President Tinubu built one of Nigeria’s most formidable political structures. Under the leadership of Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos APC is seeking to consolidate that foundation through sustained stakeholder engagement, reconciliation and a stronger grassroots organisation.
A key focus of the meeting was the deliberate effort to reconcile aggrieved members and reintegrate competing interests into the party’s mainstream. The move is expected to strengthen cooperation, restore confidence and create a more united platform for mobilising supporters ahead of 2027.
The rejuvenation programme also places renewed emphasis on the party’s polling-unit structures, regarded as the bedrock of effective grassroots mobilisation and electoral coordination.
In a demonstration of this renewed organisational drive, the Lagos State Deputy Governor and prominent APC leader, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, formally handed over nomination forms for Polling Unit Committee Members to party members selected to strengthen the APC’s presence at the grassroots.
The initiative highlights the strategic importance the party attaches to functional polling-unit committees in enhancing communication with voters, community engagement, mobilisation and election-day coordination across the state.
Beyond the distribution of nomination forms, the exercise signals a broader attempt to reactivate the APC’s grassroots network and deepen the relationship between party leadership and communities across Lagos.
The party’s reconciliation and rejuvenation strategy is therefore built around two key objectives: healing internal political divisions and rebuilding the grassroots structures needed to translate the APC’s political support into sustained electoral strength.
For the Lagos APC, consolidating President Tinubu’s political base ahead of 2027 will require more than maintaining existing structures.
