EPE, LAGOS — The Chairman of the Conference of 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Area Chairmen in Lagos State represented the Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, at a strategic Permanent Voter Card (PVC) sensitisation and community engagement programme held in Epe Division.

The high-profile event, organised by the Lagos State Baales Forum, brought together traditional rulers, community leaders and stakeholders to promote grassroots civic participation while strengthening collaboration between government and traditional institutions.

A major highlight of the programme was the official presentation of a luxury bus to the Epe Divisional Baales, a gesture aimed at enhancing the mobility and administrative effectiveness of traditional rulers in the division.

Speakers at the event urged residents to collect and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards, describing active participation in the electoral process as essential to deepening democracy and ensuring inclusive governance.

The engagement also featured discussions on key community development priorities, reinforcing the critical role of traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity and sustainable development at the grassroots.

Convener of the Lagos State Baales Forum, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its continued support for local leadership structures and community development initiatives.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated a profound commitment to the development of our communities across Nigeria,” Bamigbade said.

He noted that improving the operational capacity of traditional rulers through enhanced mobility would enable them to better discharge their responsibilities in fostering peace, resolving community issues and advancing development within their domains.

The event underscored the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with traditional institutions as a key strategy for expanding grassroots governance, increasing civic participation and accelerating community development across the state.
