Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has paid a condolence visit to Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, following the passing of his beloved wife, Mother Celestial Olasinmi Akindele Odunmbaku.
Also present to receive the governor alongside Cardinal Odunmbaku were his son, the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, and other family members.
The governor described the late matriarch as a woman whose life was defined by unwavering faith, selfless service and compassion, noting that her remarkable legacy would continue to inspire generations.
During the visit, Sanwo-Olu prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked God to grant strength and comfort to Cardinal Odunmbaku, the entire family and all those mourning her passing.
He also prayed that the family would find solace in the cherished memories she leaves behind and in the enduring legacy of a life devoted to God and humanity.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has released the funeral programme for Mother Celestial Olasinmi Akindele Odunmbaku.
According to the schedule, a Service of Songs and Night of Tribute will hold on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Hyde Park Event Centre, 15 Ashabi Cole Street, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.
The final funeral rites will take place on Friday, July 3, 2026, beginning with a Lying-in-State at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m., both at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The family expressed gratitude to God for a life well spent and invited relatives, friends and well-wishers to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of the late matriarch. They also appealed for continued prayers, love and support as they bid her a final farewell.
May the gentle soul of Mother Celestial Olasinmi Akindele Odunmbaku rest in perfect peace.
