Police nab 3 with truck loaded with sacks of military uniforms, cartons of illicit drugs in Lagos

Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Tijani, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja according to him, the vehicle was found loaded with 47 sacks containing military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of substances suspected to be illicit drugs.

Tijani further revealed that preliminary investigations indicated that the truck was being used to transport the military camouflage uniforms to the eastern part of the country.

According to the police commissioner, the operation followed actionable intelligence that led operatives to intercept an unregistered MAN diesel truck along a route in Lagos.

​He added that the arrest of the suspects, aged 29, 38, and 40, marked a significant breakthrough in efforts to curb the illegal movement of restricted materials and contraband.

​According to him, investigations are ongoing to determine the source, ownership, and intended recipients of the recovered items ​he added that efforts were underway to establish the extent of the suspects’ involvement and to identify other members of the criminal network.

​The commissioner assured that the command would continue to intensify intelligence-led policing to clamp down on criminal activities across the state.

​He added that the suspects would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
