Lagos Commissioner For Tourism, Others Attend Nigerian Navy’s 70th Anniversary Celebration

The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka was among the top dignitaries who attended the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Nigerian Navy on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

 

The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka was among the top dignitaries who attended the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Nigerian Navy on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The anniversary marked 70 years of the Nigerian Navy’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s territorial waters, protecting maritime trade routes, combating maritime crimes, and strengthening national security.

The Commissioner, who was represented at the event by the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, Mrs. Bukola Agbaminoja, commended the Nigerian Navy for its professionalism, resilience, and dedication to duty, noting that its contributions have significantly enhanced economic growth and supported the development of tourism activities along Nigeria’s coastal communities.

She stated that the Navy’s steadfast role in ensuring safety and security within the nation’s maritime domain has created an enabling environment for commerce, investment, and tourism to thrive.

“For 70 years, the Nigerian Navy has remained a pillar of national security and maritime stability. Its sacrifices, courage, and commitment have not only protected our waters but have also contributed immensely to economic development and the growth of tourism along our coastlines. We celebrate this remarkable milestone and salute the officers and men of the Navy for their dedicated service to our nation”, she said.

The celebration also provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements, milestones, and strategic contributions of the Nigerian Navy since its establishment in 1956, while reaffirming its commitment to protecting Nigeria’s maritime interests for generations to come.
