Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, has once again demonstrated compassionate leadership by distributing food packs to over 10,000 households across the district ahead of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, has once again demonstrated compassionate leadership by distributing food packs to over 10,000 households across the district ahead of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The large-scale intervention, which cut across Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Kosofe and Somolu divisions, brought relief and excitement to thousands of beneficiaries who thronged designated distribution centres to receive essential food items, including bags of rice and garri.

The gesture comes at a time many Nigerians are battling rising food prices and economic hardship, with several residents describing the initiative as timely and impactful.

Speaking through his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, during the distribution exercise at the Ikorodu Constituency Office, Senator Abiru said the programme reflects his unwavering commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of constituents across Lagos East.

According to the lawmaker, Eid-el-Kabir represents sacrifice, compassion, generosity and unity, stressing that leaders must continue to identify with the people and provide practical support, especially during difficult times.

He explained that the food distribution forms part of his broader social intervention programmes aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship on vulnerable residents and improving living conditions across the senatorial district.

Senator Abiru also expressed confidence that the intervention would complement ongoing economic and food security efforts of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Beyond the food packs distributed to households, the senator also donated rams and cows to Imams, community leaders, political stakeholders and other groups across Lagos East to support the Sallah festivities.

He further extended warm Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful, urging Nigerians to embrace peace, love, sacrifice, tolerance and mutual support.

The latest intervention has further strengthened Senator Abiru’s reputation for people-focused representation and standing with constituents during challenging times.
