Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (KOH), has officially emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate for the 2027 Lagos State General Election after recording a landslide victory in the party’s primary election.
Following his emergence, Dr. Hamzat, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, on Friday evening presented the results of the APC governorship primaries to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence, signaling a major milestone in the race toward Lagos 2027.
The official declaration of the APC Governorship Primary Election was held at the party’s State Secretariat in Acme, Ikeja, where results from the 20 Local Government Areas were announced.
KOH secured massive votes across the state with notable figures from Alimosho (74,501), Ikorodu (55,148), Kosofe (51,600), Lagos Mainland (49,079), Mushin (38,971), and Ifako-Ijaiye (38,627).

At the end of the exercise, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat polled a total of 657,917 votes to clinch the APC governorship ticket.
Party supporters described the outcome as a reflection of KOH’s growing popularity, influence, and acceptance across Lagos State.
Political observers within the APC also believe the impressive turnout and support base demonstrated during the primaries could serve as a strong foundation ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with many expressing confidence in the strength of the emerging Public Servants movement behind KOH’s candidacy.
