Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ikeja Federal Constituency on Tuesday adopted incumbent lawmakers, Hon. Seyi Lawal and Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, as consensus candidates for Ikeja Constituencies I and II respectively ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The adoption took place during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Blue Roof, LTV Complex, Agidingbi, in Ikeja on May 19, 2026.
Speaking after the announcement, Hon. Seyi Lawal expressed appreciation to party leaders and stakeholders for endorsing him as the sole APC candidate for Ikeja Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly election. He pledged to build on his previous performance and continue delivering quality representation to his constituents.
Similarly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasumu thanked party leaders for giving him another opportunity to serve the people of Ikeja Constituency II. He also appealed for forgiveness over any shortcomings during his previous tenure and promised improved service delivery.
The Stakeholders meeting convener and Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon James Abiodun Faleke, said the decision followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders across the constituency.
According to the member of the Lagos State Governing Advisory Council, Faleke, the consensus arrangement was aimed at strengthening the unity, cohesion, and internal democracy of the party ahead of the next general elections.
He also cautioned supporters of all the aspirants against the use of abusive language on social media, urging party members to work together in the collective interest and progress of the APC in Ikeja Federal Constituency.
A major highlight of the meeting was the open declaration by other aspirants, who formally announced their decisions to step down in support of the party’s preferred consensus candidates.
