The Lagos State Government has commenced clearance operations at Maiyegun-Lekki Beach along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced on Monday.
Wahab disclosed the development in a post on his official X account, saying the exercise was being carried out by enforcement and sanitation teams deployed to the location.
He said the operation formed part of the state government’s ongoing effort to reclaim waterfronts, beaches, and coastal corridors from illegal encroachments, shanties, and environmental nuisances.

The commissioner described the Maiyegun-Lekki axis as a critical stretch, stressing that the government would not allow it to become a hub for activities that degrade the environment and threaten public safety.
