The House of Representatives Primary Elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 General Elections were conducted across the country on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with Lagos State recording a largely peaceful and orderly exercise.

Chairman of the Lagos State Electoral Committee, Mr. Saleh Shehu Yimpmong, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries, describing the process as peaceful, free, and fair while commending party members for their discipline and orderly participation.

In Ikeja Federal Constituency, incumbent lawmaker, Rt Hon James Abiodun Faleke, recorded a landslide victory, reaffirming his strong political influence and widespread acceptance among party faithful.

Prior to the commencement of voting, an aspirant, Barrister Olufunke Hassan, announced in a social media post her decision to withdraw from the race and endorse Hon. Faleke. She stated that the decision followed extensive consultations and was taken in the interest of party unity, cohesion, and the continued progress of the APC in Ikeja Federal Constituency.

The overwhelming turnout and support for Hon. Faleke across the constituency reflected the confidence and trust reposed in him by party members and constituents, largely attributed to his leadership, grassroots empowerment programmes, and quality representation over the years. Political observers view the outcome as a strong reaffirmation of his popularity and enduring support base within the constituency.

Meanwhile, in Agege Federal Constituency I, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for the House of Representatives seat.

Similarly, in Surulere Federal Constituency I, Fuad Laguda was returned unopposed as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections.

In Kosofe Federal Constituency, former Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, Dele Oshinowo, secured victory over incumbent lawmaker, Kafilat Ogbara, polling 18,614 votes against Ogbara’s 5,150 votes to clinch the APC ticket for the 2027 general election.

The outcomes of the primaries across key constituencies in Lagos further highlighted the competitive yet largely peaceful nature of the APC’s internal democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
