Barrister Olufunke Rekiya Hassan has withdrawn her aspiration for the Ikeja Federal Constituency seat and declared support for the incumbent lawmaker, Rt Hon James Abiodun Faleke, following what she described as extensive consultations with party stakeholders and appeals from coordinators of the Mandate Group across the constituency.
In a statement issued on Friday, Hassan said her decision was taken after engaging leaders, supporters, and other stakeholders within the constituency, stressing that the move was in the best interest of unity and cohesion within the All Progressives Congress.
The legal practitioner and political figure noted that Ikeja Federal Constituency remains united under one political family committed to progressive leadership and quality service delivery to the people.
Hassan, who is popularly known as the Ada of Onigbongbo, congratulated Faleke on the development and pledged her unwavering loyalty and support toward the continued growth of the constituency and the success of the APC.
She also expressed gratitude to her supporters, party leaders, youths, women, and other stakeholders who stood by her throughout the aspiration process, assuring them that their support and commitment would never be taken for granted.
According to her, the decision marks a renewed commitment to collective progress and stronger unity within the party ahead of future political engagements in the constituency.
