“Health is Wealth and Cleanliness is Next to Godliness”

In line with the Lagos State Government’s directive, the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Honourable Olalekan Olu Akindipe, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, led a sweeping and highly coordinated reintroduced Environmental Sanitation Exercise across the council area.

Flagging off from the Council Secretariat, the exercise extended to key locations including Boundary, Coconut, Berger Express, Oto Wharf, and adjoining communities, witnessing widespread participation from residents.

Underscoring his administration’s commitment to a cleaner environment, Hon. Akindipe procured nine compactors—strategically assigned to each ward—to ensure efficient waste evacuation. He also mandated all Honourable Councillors and Supervisors to oversee compliance within their respective wards.

The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the impressive turnout, noting that residents came out in large numbers to clean their surroundings. He reiterated that proper sanitation plays a critical role in disease prevention, flood control, and improving overall living standards.

Despite the presence of law enforcement agents, no arrests were recorded—a testament to the high level of compliance across the Local Government.

Hon. Akindipe further urged residents to sustain the culture of cleanliness beyond the monthly exercise, emphasizing that environmental hygiene must become a daily responsibility.

The Environmental Sanitation Exercise will now hold on the last Saturday of every month between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

“We must go beyond monthly routines—cleanliness in Ajegunle must become a way of life,” the Chairman stated.
