Tinubu reconstitutes Police Academy governing council, names Gaidam chairman

President Bola Tinubu has reconstituted the 16-member Governing Council of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, with the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, appointed as chairman.

President Bola Tinubu has reconstituted the 16-member Governing Council of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, with the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, appointed as chairman.

The reconstitution, announced via a statement by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, aims to strengthen oversight and leadership at the premier police training institution.

The new council includes key figures such as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, the Inspector-General of Police, and one representative each from the Federal Ministries of Education, Finance, and Justice.

To ensure broad representation, the President nominated six zonal representatives: Babagana Zannah Adam (DCP Rtd.) for the North East; Emmanuel Torkuma Manger for North Central; Maigari Abati Dikko (DIG Rtd.) for North West; Dubem A. Obaze (KSM) for South East; Ajibogere Toyin for South West; and Udom Udo Ekpoudom (DIG Rtd.) for South South.

Ex-officio members comprise the Academy’s Commandant, Provost, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of training. The Registrar of the Academy will serve as the council’s secretary.
