In a decisive push for improved infrastructure, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has launched a comprehensive drainage and road intervention project on Oluwaleyimu Street.
The initiative covers the construction of a box culvert, desilting of drainage channels, rehabilitation of damaged drainage sections, and patching of failed portions of the road. The move is aimed at tackling persistent flooding, easing traffic flow, and enhancing the overall environment.
Chairman AKOD described the project as a key delivery under his administration’s I.K.E.J.A Agenda, with strong emphasis on infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and job creation through community participation.
“Oluwaleyimu Street is vital to residents and businesses in Ikeja. This intervention goes beyond road repairs—it’s about improving daily life, ensuring safety, and building a cleaner, more functional city,” he said.
He added that clearing blocked drains will ensure smooth water flow, while the new box culvert will provide a lasting solution to drainage challenges in the area.
Residents have welcomed the development, praising the timely response and expressing optimism about improved mobility and sanitation.
The project is part of a broader wave of infrastructure and environmental upgrades being executed by the AKOD administration to strengthen service delivery and position Ikeja as a model local government in Lagos State.
