Senator (Prof.) Iyabo Obasanjo has announced the suspension of her gubernatorial ambition following the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship race.
Speaking after the Ogun APC Caucus meeting held on April 13, 2026, Obasanjo congratulated Adeola on his emergence and wished him success in the forthcoming election.
She also expressed appreciation to both state and national leaders of the party for the opportunity to participate in the nomination process.
Citing the outcome of the meeting, Obasanjo stated that she would step down her aspiration in the interest of party unity and progress.
She further extended heartfelt gratitude to her supporters across Ogun State for their steadfast loyalty, calm disposition, and unwavering trust throughout her campaign.
Reaffirming her commitment to the party, she urged continued unity, patience, and resilience as members work together toward future success.
