Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has turned down an immediate in-ring challenge from rival Tyson Fury, insisting that any potential showdown must be arranged through proper contractual negotiations rather than public confrontation.

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has turned down an immediate in-ring challenge from rival Tyson Fury, insisting that any potential showdown must be arranged through proper contractual negotiations rather than public confrontation.

The moment unfolded at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after Fury secured a dominant win over Arslanbek Makhmudov on Saturday night.

With Joshua present at ringside, Fury called him out directly in front of the crowd, urging him to accept a long-awaited “Battle of Britain” clash.

The outspoken heavyweight champion demanded an immediate response from Joshua, pressing him to enter the ring and confirm whether he would accept the fight. However, Joshua declined to join the confrontation, a decision that drew mixed reactions from spectators.

Responding afterward, Joshua dismissed Fury’s approach as publicity-driven, saying he was not interested in being pressured into a public agreement. He maintained that while he remains open to the bout, it must follow the standard negotiation process between both camps.

Joshua stressed that he has never avoided the fight and reiterated his willingness to face Fury when terms are properly agreed.

He explained that past discussions have taken place between both sides, but financial terms, promoters, and scheduling have repeatedly delayed the matchup.

He added that his focus is currently on recovery and personal matters, noting that he is also evaluating his readiness to return fully to competition. Despite this, he confirmed that a fight with Fury remains one of his major career ambitions.

The long-running rivalry between both British heavyweights has continued for years, with fans repeatedly calling for an all-British heavyweight showdown.

While both fighters have expressed interest in facing each other, the bout has yet to materialize due to ongoing promotional and contractual disputes.
