Senate President Godswill Akpabio has inaugurated the Open-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge and the newly named Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex in Alausa, Lagos State.

Akpabio represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently in Lagos for a two-day working visit to commission several major projects delivered by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

At the ceremony, Akpabio unveiled the projects alongside Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and other dignitaries.

While performing the ribbon-cutting, Akpabio declared, “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.”

Earlier, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, had disclosed that the President would commission a series of “iconic, transformative and legacy projects” across the state. These include the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service building in Alausa, the Multi-Agency Complex, Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, Maracana Stadium, and the Lagos Food Logistics Hub in Abijo.

Akosile urged residents to welcome the President, noting that the projects reflect the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government announced partial road closures in key areas to facilitate the commissioning events.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the temporary traffic measures were necessary to ensure safety and smooth proceedings, advising motorists to plan ahead and use alternative routes.

According to the advisory, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge commissioning on Wednesday, April 8, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., will impact traffic around Opebi, Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota.

Motorists were urged to avoid the affected corridors during the period to minimise congestion and delays.

On Thursday, April 9, additional commissioning events will hold within the same timeframe, including the Tolu Schools Complex, which is expected to affect traffic in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas.
