Sanwo-Olu Celebrates Royal Exchange Chairman’s Legacy At Retirement

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended the distinguished career and contributions of the Chairman of Royal Exchange Plc, Mr. Kenny Ezenwani Odogwu, as he retires from active corporate leadership, describing his legacy as a testament to stability, integrity, and strategic vision in Nigeria’s financial services sector.

 

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended the distinguished career and contributions of the Chairman of Royal Exchange Plc, Mr. Kenny Ezenwani Odogwu, as he retires from active corporate leadership, describing his legacy as a testament to stability, integrity, and strategic vision in Nigeria’s financial services sector.

The Governor noted that Lagos, as the nation’s commercial and financial hub, continues to value leaders who strengthen institutional resilience through sound corporate governance.

The Governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Tajudeen Alao Mahmud, gave the commendation on Thursday at the retirement ceremony held at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, in honour of Mr. Odogwu’s years of distinguished service to Royal Exchange Plc and the Nigerian insurance industry.

Sanwo-Olu noted that Mr. Odogwu’s tenure coincided with a defining period in the insurance industry marked by major regulatory reforms, including recapitalisation and strengthened solvency requirements. He added that the company’s stability during this period reflected disciplined leadership and clear strategic direction.

“Mr. Odogwu, your career reminds us that true leadership is measured not by noise, but by impact and by the strength of the institutions left behind,” the Governor stated. He emphasised that responsible corporate leadership remains vital to sustaining investor confidence and institutional credibility, particularly in periods of economic uncertainty.

He further highlighted the critical role of financial institutions in advancing financial inclusion, strengthening risk management culture and supporting sustainable economic growth, noting that Mr. Odogwu’s professional journey will continue to serve as inspiration to emerging leaders in the sector.

Governor Sanwo-Olu further congratulated Mr. Odogwu on his impactful career and wished him continued success, good health and fulfilment in retirement.

The event was attended by eminent personalities including former President Olusegun Obasanjo; the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Dr. Sam Ode, and other key stakeholders.
