A leading aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) representing Ikeja Constituency II, Mr. Ajala Ganiyu Olawale, has formally declared his intention to contest, following a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held at the National Institute for Journalism, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The strategic political gathering attracted key figures, including the Executive Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore, as well as Vice Chairmen from Ojodu and Onigbongbo LCDAs—Hon. Funmilayo Layeni and Hon. Shamsideen Oloyede.
Addressing attendees, Olawale traced his political journey to his days as a student activist, highlighting his involvement in the pro-democracy struggle for the June 12 mandate won by the late Chief MKO Abiola. He expressed confidence that his political experience and academic background have equipped him for effective representation.
The aspirant pledged to run an open-door leadership style, assuring constituents of accessibility and responsive governance if elected.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikeja Federal Constituency Chapter, Alhaja Olusola Kokumo, acknowledged Olawale’s contributions to the growth of the party, noting that the legal practitioner deserves support and a fair hearing. She, however, clarified that her presence at the meeting should not be interpreted as an endorsement, as she remains open to engaging with other aspirants.
In her remarks, Hon. Funmilayo Layeni commended Olawale for his past support during her own political aspirations, pledging to reciprocate by backing his bid for the assembly seat.
The meeting also drew stakeholders from across all wards in Ikeja Federal Constituency, who turned out in large numbers to show solidarity and support for Olawale, popularly known as AGO.
