Rt. Hon. Aro Samuel Bamidele Otunba has been described as a seasoned professional whose extensive experience in the private sector positions him as a strong contender for effective representation in the Senate for the Kogi West Senatorial District.

Advocates of his candidacy say leadership in the Senate requires more than political ambition, stressing that competence, administrative experience, and the ability to manage complex systems are essential for driving development and influencing policy.

Bamidele, a veteran of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, built a distinguished career with global energy company TotalEnergies, where he served as Group Head overseeing strategic projects and innovation initiatives. He also held leadership roles as Chief Executive Officer of several payment technology companies, gaining experience in financial systems management and corporate governance.

Supporters argue that these roles demanded strategic planning, financial discipline, and the management of large teams—skills they believe would translate effectively into legislative responsibilities such as shaping policies that promote economic growth, financial inclusion, and investment attraction.

They also maintain that if elected to represent Kogi West in the Senate, Bamidele would leverage his private sector background and global exposure to advocate for youth entrepreneurship, digital innovation, infrastructure financing, and sustainable economic development within the district.

His supporters further note that his vision aligns with the development agenda of Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State, whose administration has been pursuing reforms and projects aimed at accelerating development across the state.

Within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bamidele is being presented by supporters as a credible and competent candidate capable of strengthening federal representation for Kogi West while promoting policies that encourage economic progress.

Backers say the district requires a representative who understands governance, development systems, and economic transformation, describing Bamidele as a professional with proven leadership and the capacity to deliver effective representation.
