The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area, Kareem Azeez Abiodun, has commenced a series of development projects aimed at improving infrastructure and boosting economic activities across the council area.
Among the key projects is the construction of Omowale Street in Cele, Kareem Street in Shibiri, and Akinniba Street in Ilemba-Awori. The road projects are designed to address the persistent flooding challenges faced by residents in the affected communities.
According to the council, the new roads will be equipped with improved drainage systems and streetlights to enhance safety and ensure better movement for residents, particularly during the rainy season.
In addition, the council has concluded plans to remodernize the final section of the Ijanikin International Modern Market, Vespa, a major commercial hub in the area. The project is expected to improve the trading environment and stimulate economic activities for traders and shoppers.
The chairman also inspected the ongoing renovation of Supervisors’ offices within the council secretariat. He was accompanied by the Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Works, Moses Olabisi Aina, the Leader of the House, Audu Sulaimon, the Secretary to the Local Government, Ajose Tekobo Ezekiel, alongside other council officials.
The office renovation is part of the administration’s efforts to provide a more conducive working environment for staff to enhance service delivery to residents.
Speaking on the projects, Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful development across the council.
“We are working tirelessly to ensure our roads are motorable, our markets are modern, and our offices are conducive for staff. Our goal is to make Oto-Awori LCDA a better place for everyone,” he said.
