The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Thursday continued his administration’s environmental sanitation and enforcement drive with an inspection of Alade Market and the Allen Avenue environs.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ikeja Local Government to ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations and promote a cleaner and healthier environment across markets, streets, and other public spaces within the council area.
During the inspection, Chairman Dauda stressed the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a clean environment, urging traders, shop owners, and residents to keep their surroundings tidy, orderly, and safe.
He was accompanied by officials from the Department of Environment and Sanitation of Ikeja Local Government, led by the Head of Department, Sanitarian Omotayo. Also present were the newly sworn-in Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers, who joined the enforcement team in monitoring compliance and sensitizing residents and traders on proper environmental practices.
Chairman Dauda noted that the sanitation and enforcement exercise aligns with the “E” pillar of the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, which focuses on creating a clean, healthy, and safe environment for residents.
He added that maintaining environmental standards is a shared responsibility and called on residents to support the local government’s efforts in sustaining a hygienic and orderly community.
The chairman further assured that the sanitation and enforcement exercise would continue across various parts of Ikeja to safeguard public health, improve environmental safety, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
