The Lagos State House of Assembly has stepped down the nomination of Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu as General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), citing serious procedural irregularities linked to her previous tenure.
The decision was taken during Thursday’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa. Lawmakers queried Mrs. Adelabu over her occupation of the LASPA General Manager position since 2021 without undergoing the constitutionally required screening and confirmation by the House.
Members of the Assembly described her extended stay in office without legislative approval as a clear breach of due process and an infringement on the authority of the legislature. The House recalled that this violation had earlier led to the nullification of her appointment on November 18, 2025.
Although she was renominated, lawmakers said issues surrounding her earlier appointment remained unresolved. Following her inability to satisfactorily address the concerns raised during the screening exercise, the House unanimously resolved to step down her confirmation for further review.
Meanwhile, other nominees presented by the Governor were successfully screened and confirmed, having no controversies surrounding their nominations. Those confirmed include Mr. Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti as Chairman of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, as well as Engr. Olopade Adekunle, Barr. Mrs. Temitope George, Mr. Alexander Akinwunmi, Mr. Falola Olakunle, and Mr. Bello Wasiu Oladimeji, who were appointed into various leadership and membership positions within the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Following the confirmations, the House adjourned sitting sine die.
