The esteemed member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has categorically denied a report suggesting the Presidency directed former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and current Governor Usman Ododo to implement a one-term pact in the state.

The esteemed member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has categorically denied a report suggesting the Presidency directed former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and current Governor Usman Ododo to implement a one-term pact in the state.

Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency and chairs the House Committee on Finance, was reacting to a report published by an online medium, TrackNews, which claimed that he was involved in a purported one-term arrangement in Kogi State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the lawmaker categorically denied having any discussion, knowledge, or involvement in such an agreement, describing the report as misleading and entirely without factual basis.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I state unequivocally that I never had any discussion, nor was I privy to any conversation, arrangement, or agreement regarding a one-term deal in Kogi State or any related matter,” Faleke said.

He stressed that at no time was he a party, directly or indirectly, to any alleged agreement involving the Kogi State governorship or the Presidency.

According to him, the publication had triggered a flood of phone calls and text messages seeking clarification, making it necessary for him to publicly refute the claim.

Faleke described the report as a fabrication and urged members of the public to disregard it in its entirety, while advising media organisations to verify facts before publication.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and responsible public engagement, warning against the spread of unverified reports capable of misleading the public and creating unnecessary political tension.
