Commissioner of Police CP Monday Agbonika, FDC, alongside Brigadier General Ahmed Olatunboju Balogun of the Mechanized 4 Brigade, personally supervised the deployment of security personnel. Forces from the Nigeria Army, NSCDC, Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), and Hunters were mobilized to ensure public safety and address issues of kidnapping and other crimes.

Following investigations, 52 individuals suspected of violent acts—ranging from vandalism, assault, looting, rioting, and cruelty to animals—have been arrested. The suspects allegedly forcibly entered the palace of the Enogie of Ekpoma, His Royal Highness Anthony Ehizogie Abumere, assaulting him and his wife, and destroying property.

The Edo State Police Command clarified that no peaceful protesters were arrested. Law-abiding citizens were instructed to return home and maintain peace. The suspects have been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.

CP Agbonika reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting the constitutional right to peaceful protest while maintaining zero tolerance for criminality and violence. The public is urged to ignore unverified social media reports and rely on official information from the Police.

The Command appreciates the cooperation of law-abiding citizens and remains committed to sustaining peace and security across Edo State.
