The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised what it described as another “pedestrian outburst” by former presidential candidate Peter Obi, following his public query, “Where’s our President?”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the party said the remark reflected Mr. Obi’s “chronic obsession with optics” and a continued inability to appreciate the realities of governance in a modern state. According to the Lagos APC, the comment was emblematic of “analog politics” struggling to comprehend a presidency driven by digital-age governance and strategic statecraft.

The party stressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is neither absent nor disengaged, but fully immersed in the demanding responsibilities of leadership, which often extend beyond “simplistic, camera-ready theatrics.” It noted that governance is not defined by constant public appearances or social media check-ins, but by sustained policy coordination, security management, diplomatic engagement, and economic reform.
“While Mr. Obi fixates on physical sightings, Nigerians can see tangible actions—decisive economic reforms, strategic security initiatives, robust diplomatic outreach, and a clearly articulated renewed global posture for Nigeria,” the statement said. “The President’s schedule is guided by national interest, not the convenience of political hecklers who mistake noise for substance.”
The Lagos APC further argued that leadership should be assessed by outcomes rather than perpetual visibility, adding that President Tinubu remains firmly in charge of the nation’s affairs—constitutionally, operationally, and morally.
Advising Mr. Obi to “upgrade his political firmware,” the party said Nigeria has moved beyond grandstanding and hollow soundbites. “The country deserves, and indeed has, a President who works—sometimes quietly, always purposefully—rather than one who merely performs for applause,” the statement concluded.
The statement was signed by the Lagos APC Spokesman, Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, and dated January 13, 2026.
