The Nigerian Army on Saturday formally inducted 3,391 newly trained soldiers into its ranks at the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 89 Regular Recruits Intake, held at the Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo.
The ceremony marked a historic milestone as the first POP conducted at the newly established training depot.
The colourful parade was reviewed by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, and underscored the Army’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its manpower base while upholding professionalism, discipline and combat readiness in the face of Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
For the new soldiers, the parade represented the successful completion of six months of intensive military training, which included rigorous drills, academic instruction, physical conditioning and character development. The programme was designed to transform civilians into disciplined, resilient and patriotic personnel capable of serving the nation effectively.
Military authorities noted that the induction of the recruits aligns with the Nigerian Army’s broader strategy to reinforce frontline operations and enhance national security through a well-trained and motivated force.
